1.

These Rules may be cited as the Produce Export (Bags) Rules.

2.

These Rules shall apply in respect of produce other than beeswax and castor seed.

3.

Every bag containing produce for export shall, to the satisfaction of a customs officer or of an inspector—
(a)be in sound and fit condition;
(b)be securely sewn by hand or machine.

4.

Without limiting the generality of Rule 3, a bag shall not be securely sewn unless—
(a)if hand sewn, double thread is used; or
(b)if machine sewn—
(i)two rows of stitching are used on bags the net contents of which weigh 135 lbs. or more; and
(ii)one row of stitching is used on bags the net contents of which weigh less than 135 lbs.
