This Notice may be cited as the Insurance (Approved Securities) Notice

All the securities which are set out and described in the Schedule to this Notice are hereby approved securities in respect of any investment made before the first day of January, 19711.1G.N. No. 4 of 1971

Schedule

(a)Deposits in the Post Office Savings Bank;
(b)securities issued by the Community or any Corporation within the Community which are redeemable in and in respect of which the interest is payable in lawful currency of the United Republic;
(c)securities issued by the East African Development Bank or by the African Development Bank which are redeemable in and in respect of which the interest is payable in the lawful currency of the united Republic;
(d)fully paid-up shares or debentures in any public company incorporated in the United Republic:Provided that no more than one-tenth of the investors' total assets in the United Republic at any time shall remain invested in any single company and not more than one-third of the investors' total assets in the United Republic shall be invested in companies;
(e)fully paid-up shares or debentures of any body corporate established by or under any written law other than a company incorporated under the Companies Act2;2Cap. 212
(f)first legal mortgage of land in Tanzania held under a Right of Occupancy issued under the Land Act3:3Cap. 113Provided that the investment shall not exceed fifty per centum of the total value of the land and of any building on it.
