1. Citation
These Regulations may be cited as the Value Added Tax (General) Regulations.2. Interpretation
In these regulations, unless the context requires otherwise—"Act" means the Value Added Act 1;"accounting year" means a twelve consecutive calendar months period;“Cash Register” means a machine designed for use in retail business for efficient management controls in areas of sales analysis and stock control system;[definition of “Cash Register” inserted by section 2(a) of Government Notice 284 of 2003]"Commissioner" means the Commissioner for Value Added Tax;"Daily Gross Takings" means all payments received for or services supplied for each day;[definition of "Daily Gross Takings" inserted by section 2(b) of Government Notice 284 of 2003]"Retailer" means a supplier who sells goods in small quantities to the final consumer;[definition of "Retailer" inserted by section 2(b) of Government Notice 284 of 2003]"TIN" means Taxpayer Identification Number.3. A taxable person shall ensure that his tax return, in the form set out as VAT 201 in the Schedule to the Regulations, is lodged at the tax office for the address at which he is registered for the purposes of the Act, within the time prescribed in section 26 of the Act.14. 15. Change of rate of tax or liability
In the event of a change in the rate of tax or liability to tax during the prescribed accounting period, the calculation in subregulation 7 or 8 of regulation 13 shall be made at the close of business on the day of change and also at the close of business on the last day of the prescribed accounting period, using the rate of tax and the liability to tax in force on each respective day.History of this document
