1. Citation

These Regulations may be cited as the National Museum of Tanzania (Fees for Admission, Research, or any other Related Charges) Regulations and shall apply to all National Museums of Tanzania.

3. Interpretation

In these Regulations, unless the context requires otherwise—"authorised officer" means any person appointed by the Director as such for the purposes of these regulations;"Board" means the Board of Directors established under section 4 of the National Museum of Tanzania Act 1;1Cap. 281"Director" means the Director-General of the National Museum of Tanzania.

4. Admission fees

All visitors to the National Museums of Tanzania shall pay admission fees or charges approved by the Board as provided for in the First Schedule to these regulations.

5. Guided tours

(1)Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 4 above, all guided tours shall be paid for additional amount determined by the Board.
(2)Fees for the guided tours for a group of not more than 50 visitors shall be as stipulated in the Second Schedule to these regulations.
(3)Fees for the guided tours of a group of more than 50 visitors shall be split into groups.

6. Use of museum facilities and collections for research purposes

(1)All researchers intending to conduct research work at the National Museums of Tanzania in collaboration with the National Museum of Tanzania shall have to contribute 5% of their research budget towards maintenance of such museum facilities.
(2)The Board may revise the contribution stipulated in regulation (1) above from time to time.
(3)Access to museum collections and permits to use museum collections for research purposes will be granted upon payment of USD 200 as fees for such purpose.

7. Clearance to the museum collection

All researchers shall obtained from the relevant authorities clearance for such research prior to submitting an application for access to the museum collection.

8. Permit for photographing and video shooting

All researchers shall obtain from the Director or his authorized officer a permit for any photographing or video shooting of a museum of collection upon payment of a fee as provided for in the Third Schedule of these regulations for such purpose.

9. Scientific research

All researchers shall cause to be prepared and made available to the Director the scientific results of the research within a year of the research conducted.

10. Deposit of results

All researchers shall deposit with the Director copies of all publication including papers, theses and dissertations submitted for examinations or degrees dealing with the results of work undertaken.

11. Conditional gifts/donations

The National Museum of Tanzania may accept conditional gifts or donations provided that it is possible for the museum to fulfil the conditions and that the conditions are not illegal or against the public interest.

12. Copyright and ownership

Permission for reproduction of casts, models of collections or specimens shall be granted by the National Museums of Tanzania in accordance with the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act 2.2Cap. 218

13. Offences and penalty

(1)Any person who contravenes any provision of these Regulations commits an offence and shall be liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand shillings or to imprisonment for a term of 3 years or to both such a fine and imprisonment.
(2)Notwithstanding the provisions of subregulation (1) above, any person who causes damage to any of the museums properties shall either be excluded from the museum premises or pay compensation for the damages caused by him or her.
