These Rules may be cited as the Mosquitoes (Control) Rules, and shall apply to every area to which the Act applies.

The breeding of mosquitoes in any receptacle of any kind whether natural or artificial and whether fixed or movable in which water whether of a permanent or casual nature is or may be conveyed or contained whether by design or chance and if by design for any purpose shall be prevented by any of the prescribed measures which are necessary which may measures as may be required by notice in writing by the Sanitary Authority.

The prescribed measures referred to in Rule 2 are as follows:
(a)the emptying and drying of the receptacle at least once in every seven days upon a day to be notified by the Sanitary Authority;
(b)the fitting of a device or cover so designed or fitted that the entry and emergence of mosquitoes is effectually prevented;
(c)the use of larvicide not less frequently than once every seven days upon a day to be notified to the Sanitary Authority;
(d)the stocking of the receptacle with larvivorous fish:Provided that this measure shall only be taken with the approval of the Sanitary Authority and in accordance with the conditions which he may require;
(e)in the case of abandoned or disused receptacles their destruction if their nature permits or if not their filling in and levelling or permanently sealing to the satisfaction of the Sanitary Authority;
(f)in the case of receptacles containing running water such as canals, irrigation channels, drains and water-courses of a similar nature the clearing of all matter vegetation or other thing likely to cause obstruction to the flow of water therein, and where the level of the water in the receptacle is higher than that of the surrounding land the prevention of leakage from its banks;
(g)in the case of receptacles such as gutters and channels for the conveyance of water from roofs and buildings including drains for the conveyance of waste water their maintenance in such a manner as to prevent the accumulation of standing water therein whether from natural obstructions or otherwise;
(h)the adoption of methods in the cultivation of crops which the Sanitary Authority may direct:Provided that this measure shall not apply to any crops growing within the boundaries of any township.
