1. Short title

This Notice may be cited as the Law of Marriage (Appointment of Registrars for Foreign Countries) Notice.

2. Appointment of Registrar

The Head of Mission or, in his absence, the Charge d'Affaires ad interim and officers holding the post of Counsellor or First Secretary in the embassies specified in the Schedule hereto are appointed to be registrars for foreign countries for the purposes of section 8 of the Law of Marriage Act.

3. Duty to observe laws of receiving state

When exercising his duties under the Act and this Notice, the Registrar shall satisfy himself that marriage solemnisation does not violate the laws, customs or the public order of the receiving state.
